I was supposed to be revising today but I was feeling a tad ill earlier on and so I decided to go on a few hair sites and that how I came across this post on K.I.S.S: http://keepitsimplesista.ning.com/forum/topics/fyi-cantu-shea-butter-formula-change-official-in-my-bss.
Apparently, the formula for the Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In has changed and now, Canola Oil is the second ingredient in the new formula (after water) and Shea Butter has moved down the list to 6/7th position.
This is extremely disheartening as Cantu Shea Butter is one of my new fav staple products. Hopefully it will take a while for us to get it in the UK, but I'll try and stock up asap!

Product Review: HE Beautiful Ends (also known as HE LTR)
Herbal Essences - Beautiful Ends - Split Ends
Protection Cream
Price: £1.95 (at Superdrug NOW!)
Ingredients: Aqua, Stearyl Alcohol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Glutamic Acid, Dimethicone, Benzyl Alcohol, Parfum, DMDM Hydantoin, Cittic Acid, EDTA, Sodium Chloride, Limonene, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Propylene Glycol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxadehyde, Citronellol, Hydrolyzed Silk, Rubus Idseus Fruit Extract, Linalool, Amyl Cinnamal, Sodium Benzote, Potassium Sorbate.
Assessment:
The first time I used it, I noticed it left a
waxy/sticky residue that weighed down my hair and made it ICKY! I was not
impressed but after a while decided to give it a second chance & OMG
was that a good decision.
Since then I've been using it as my moisturiser
non-stop & its been FAB!
When I had my hair out I would part my hair into 6/8
sections and moisturise my hair with it nightly (ONE PUMP goes a long
way) before sealing with my coconut, olive & castor oil mix. Now that
my hair is in a weave, I only use it on my leave out/occasionally on the
ends of my weave.
Since I've started using this product I've
noticed my hair is definitely more moisturised and therefore I have
suffered from less breakage. It is no longer waxy/sticky/heavy but rather light
and it leaves my hair soft and bouncy - so much so that I cant keep my hands
out of it!
Does it protect the hair against spilt ends? YES it
does! I have noticed a huge reduction in my spilt ends since I've been
using this.
Oh & the smell is AMAZING! Put not overpowering
which is a good thing.
Rating:
I am giving this
product a rating of *4 Stars*
I will become a staple product for the time being
(maybe even for life) but right now, I am looking for
a moisturiser with better ingredients. I will, however repurchase
this whilst looking for another moisturiser as I am afraid to run out of
it.
Would I recommend this product?
YES! It is a great staple product to have! The
ingredients might not be 100% au
naturel but the results are amazing.
Hope this review has helped & if you have any
questions leave them in the comment box below :)

P-P-P-Products
These products are a mixture of
products that I have used in the past that work (the ORS & Organics
products) and products I have read about on Hairlista and K.I.S.S (Herbal
Essences products).
I will review each of the
products individually in the future but I thought it might be useful to state
my products now (so I don’t go crazy when shopping and buy the whole store as
well as for others who might be interested).
So, I already have the ORS &
Organics products as they were my staples before I knew what a HCJ was and
today (before my lecture) I went to Superdrug & bought the Herbal Essences
Beautiful Ends Split End Protection Cream for £1.75 (got 20p off with my NUS
card – every penny counts!). I tried it today & OMG I’m completely in love,
so much so I can’t see myself using the ORS lotion anytime soon. Unlike any of
the hair products I’ve used before, this product is LIGHT but powerful, one
pump added to my edges completely moisturised and detangled them upon
application (look out for a review on this product hopefully before the New
Year or not too long after).
For my American readers & those who are
familiar with HE LTR (Herbal Essences Long term Relationship), I read here that
the two products are essentially the same (but I’ll confirm this and compare the
ingredients in my review).
The only things I have to buy now
are the oils, aloe vera juice and the herbal essences shampoo and conditioner
(which are both £1 each at poundland!) and a heat protectant (not sure what it
will be yet).
I have chosen these products as
my staple products because 1) I have heard good things about them/they work for
me 2) they’re affordable and 3) I’m trying to limit the different brands I use.
Hopefully these products work for
me & continue to remain in my regimen but I will be trying new product
every so often & comparing them with my staples.
So if you have any
questions/suggestions please leave a comment below :)
